Zeb found the Director's office and knocked on the door.
"Come in," said a voice from inside. Zeb entered the room and stood before the Director's desk. The Director was sitting behind his desk, writing notes on a pad of paper.
"Sit down, Zeb," said the Director. "Thank you, Sir," replied Zeb.
"I understand you are confused and probably trying to find a way back to your time." The Director looked up from his pad and stared at Zeb with piercing blue eyes.
"You won't be going back until your mission is completed."
Zeb angrily responded, "you can't keep me here against my will."
He reached for the iPort-q device, but Director sternly replied,
"it won't do you any good; we had Dr. Müller adjust the time travel portal application on your iPort-q device while you were sleeping; it has been deactivated."
Zeb didn’t believe him, so he began tapping the app icon repeatedly to no avail.
"You're lying,” he said to the Director. "I must go back; my parents will look for me!"
The Director shook his head, "your parents have known you would eventually be called into service. They adopted you for this very reason to be the first human to time travel and the one to stop the Serpent People from creating a time warp, allowing them to freely travel between past and future events."
The Director continued, "the peace you have experienced in your time is because of what you are about to do here in 1953. It won't stop the damage done by the Reptilian Hybrids in the upcoming years. Still, you will be the one to untangle the time warp, which will eventually lead to their defeat, and if you fulfill your mission, they will leave our planet for good before you return to your time."
"I know you want to be back to your time developing games and having fun, but you are the Chosen One. You are the first human to successfully time travel, and it is your destiny. I am sorry." The Director said as he looked into Zeb's eyes.
Zeb looked at the Director with sorrow and said, "if this is my destiny, let's get started so I can go home."
"Zeb, I was hoping you would say that!" The Director said as he patted Zeb on the back.
"Now you need more training with the iPortq device. We must prepare you for your mission because it will be dangerous."
Later that afternoon, Zeb was escorted by three uniformed men to a tunnel under the White House. The patch on the sleeve of their uniforms read "SSF." Zeb would find out later that SSF was an acronym for Special Space Force.
The Director was there to meet them when they were about to enter the tunnel.
He told Zeb, “this is the last time you and I will speak about this mission. You will now be working with Dr. Müller, who will train you to use the iPort-q receptor in your brain with the device to access powers you are unaware you have."
The Director paused for a moment and said, "it will be dangerous. I hope you will remember why we are doing this before you go in."
Then he turned to the three men who escorted Zeb to the tunnel and said, "you are dismissed."
As the three men walked away from the group, Dr. Müller appeared from the shadows and introduced himself to Zeb in a thick German accent, "It is nice to meet you, Zeb; I’m looking forward to working with you."
Zeb looked at Dr. Müller and asked, "what did the Director mean by dangerous?"
Dr. Müller said, "that is why we will be training you; to eliminate as much danger as possible."
Then Dr. Müller patted Zeb on the back. Zeb felt a sharp poke. "What was that?" Zeb asked.
"It's just an innocuous device to monitor your progress." Dr. Müller replied. Zeb didn't like it.
"What are we doing now?" Zeb asked in a frustrated voice.
Dr. Müller said, "first, we need to get to our base in Nevada."
Then Dr. Müller and Zeb got in a small vehicle that looked like a golf cart. The cart took them for about a mile through the long tunnel to an underground station.
They boarded a high-speed underground train that took them over two thousand miles through a series of underground tunnels. Within a few hours, they were at the Nevada base.
Zeb was amazed at the size of the underground base. There were several small buildings, one large building that looked like a hospital, and one large hangar filled with hundreds of various types of vehicles.
Some were hovering above the surface, taking off and landing every few minutes. Members of the SSF and other military personnel were running about like ants, doing their various jobs.
Zeb was escorted to a small building inside the base, where he was shown into an office. The man in the office had on a white lab coat. Dr. Müller introduced Zeb to Erhardt, one of the former Nazi scientists now working for the SSF.
Zeb was told that he would be working with Erhardt on an experiment that would take place in the next few days. Erhardt was charming, and Zeb could not help but like him.
Zeb later found that Erhardt did not share the same views as Dr. Müller. This troubled Zeb, and he soon would find out why
